For our group's predictions, we predicted that when the egg was placed in the green water, the egg would float. For our second prediction, we predicted that when the egg was placed in the blue liquid, it would also float, while for our third prediction, we said that the egg would sink when placed in the red water. Our results matched what our predictions were. The green floated, the blue floated, and the red sank. We think that the green liquid is seawater, the blue liquid is salt water, and the red liquid is regular distilled water. Nothing really surprised us. We though that if any one of the containers contained salt water of any kind, the egg would float, since salt provides additional buoyancy.
Our group had similar results with the blue and green solutions having floating eggs and we had similar predictions as well saying that the salt in the water caused the egg to float. I agree and think the salt adds additional buoyancy to the water. I love your egg design!
ReplyDeleteOur group had similar but also a little different of results, our eggs sunk in both the red and green solutions and only floated in the blue, but we made the same predictions about what the unknown liquids were. I wonder why our egg sank in the green solution and yours didnt.
ReplyDeleteNice face on the egg. It's cool to see that you guys added some more creativity and fun to the experiment=)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with your predictions and results. I obtained the same results. I'm however wondering from what amount of salt per liter of water does the buoyancy effect made by the salt really start. By the way, your egg looks really cute!!!
