Aquarium - Emily P.
The last time I was at the Seattle aquarium was just about 2 years ago. One thing that was new to me were the yellow eyed rock fish. They were starting their mating swim when we were there. I learned that they don't reach sexual maturity until they're 20 and they don't hit peak sexual maturity until they're about 60. They can also live to be over 100 years old easily. It was also interesting to learn that the eye lens of an octopus is made of glass. I liked to see how many kids were there and excited to learn about the animals at the aquarium. The one question I have is in reference to the giant pacific octopus. The woman said that the octopus eats something like 3 shrimp every time she gets fed (about 4 times a day?) It seems like such a large animal would eat a considerable amount more than that?
