Plankton model by Emily Prall and Naomi Faletti
A colorful plankton model created by Emily and me today. We
were almost able to create the perfect balance to stay afloat in the water yet,
we run out of time toward the end. First, we created a water filled straw as a
base of the model. Then we added weight and feather to balance out the floating.
It was quite difficult to accomplish neutral buoyancy. As we added or subtracted
weight, it became much harder to create the proper balance. It was really a fun
project at the same we realized this was a matter of mathematical calculation.
I really like your guys' plankton! it is so fun looking and colorful, whereas mine was so much simpler. Im glad to know that my group was not the only ones who had so much trouble keeping them plankton neutrally buoyant.
ReplyDeleteWow its really cool had you added the straw filled with water to help and even out everything I didn´t even think about using the actual water as weight!
ReplyDeleteI really like your pink plankton!!! It looks very cute. Like your group, my classmate and I used some clay to make it sink. However, we used to much of it. Besides, you used fuzzy balls to make it float, while we used cork.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that your plankton didn't survive the race, I think you had an appropriate design and balance to make it win.
