Seattle Aquarium Field Trip
I have been to the Seattle aquarium many times, but not in the past few years. One thing that I had never seen before was a pregnant halibut like the one that was in the underwater dome. It was pretty amazing because I've seen big halibut before, and they are normally a flat fish but this one looked like it had swallowed a basketball. The most interesting thing i learned was in the dive show, a little kid was asking about octopus and the diver started talking about the only two hard parts of an octopus. First she talked about the beak, which I've learned about before but then she said that the eyelids of an octopus was made of glass, which I had never heard before but thought was pretty cool. It was amazing to see the diversity of organisms that live in the pacific northwest, you don't always think about all of the things that live in our backyard until you see them. One question that I have after visiting the aquarium is where do they get all the fish that they have in the tanks, do they breed them at the aquarium, or get them from the ocean or other aquariums? In the picture I was have a staring contest with a rock fish that was in the underwater dome.
Oh my god that pregnant halibut was hilarious! And some may be bred I think?
