Carkeek Park

This is one of the Sea Anemones that I saw at Carkeek Park. Its a type of sand burrowing anemone- or tube anemone. I just couldn't find the exact species in any of the guides, or online. The anemone was just hangin out. Hiding from the sun. The most interesting thing I saw was moon snail eggs, they look like alien creatures! I did wonder if the amount of dead crab shells was unusual or if its normal of this time of year? Or what would cause so many dead creatures. Overall it was a beautiful beach on a beautiful day, and I got to see a lot of cool creatures.

  1. Great sea anemone photo!... I was wondering about all the dead crabs too 🦀! I am asking around to see if there is a good explanation for all the dead crabs.

  2. That's a cool sea anemone I did not notice one like that while I was there. I was at another beach this past week and there were a ton of dead crab shells as well, so I am also very curious about why there are so many.

  3. I remember the first time I saw a moon snail egg case, I thought it was a piece of rubber or a mini tire. Then my friends began laughing at me because I pointed them all out and gave a lecture about polluting... when they finally told me what it was I felt super dumb. Its okay though, my embarrassment will help them keep in mind the importance of not polluting in one way or another.
