Edmonds marsh

Pictured above are cat tails they were everywhere and not doing anything! They are a producer and provide oxygen and probably shelter to the marsh animals, I'm not 100% sure on this but do you also think they can filter out toxins and other nasty things going into the marsh? One of the most interesting things I learned about the marsh was that some of the plants can filter out toxins naturally and salmon have a higher spawn rate if they go up filtered water ways like this. These are obviously very important to the ecosystem of many animals and its sad to see how much its shrunk.

  1. Cattails are not the best filters of toxins but they do play some role in the filtering of toxins in the marsh as a whole.
