Edmonds Marsh by Kyle
I believe that the organism I saw was a Great blue heron. I saw the organism in front of some large bushes near the train tracks, away from the Marsh's viewpoints. The organism was standing still about five feet from what I believe was another Great Blue Heron. I think this organism is at the top of the food chain in this marsh. The most interesting thing I learned on this trip to the Edmonds Marsh is that the Marsh had been disconnected from the Puget Sound and then reconnected to the Puget Sound. Learning that marshes filter harmful materials out of water that flows to the ocean changed my perspective on marshes. I was surprised to figure out that the water in the Edmonds Marsh contains a large diversity of non-plant organisms; it was nice to have the idea introduced to me that non-plant organisms can live in Marshes oily looking water. A question that I came up with at the Edmonds Marsh is, how do migrating birds find the Edmonds Marsh? Do the birds stumble upon the marsh and then decide to stay for some time?
Nice post but your photo did not come out again. :(
