Spencer Island
Spencer Island
After the first initial walking around I didnt really see any individual organisms that were interesting. However around 1:45, I walked by either some kind of mating ritual or feeding process of these birds. There was at least 20-30 birds in the flock. You cant really see the blue belly, but some of them had blue bellies, and they would fly around one another and then swoop underneath the bridge. I tried really hard to find a way to identify them, with no luck. If I had to guess their ecological role I would say that they eat insects and disperse seeds around the estuary.
The amount of land dedicated to Spencer Island was really beautiful. The trip out there really emphasized how important it is to preserve habitat not only for the sake of the organisms living there but also for us. The size of Spencer Island also filters a lot of ground water and the water that makes it into the sound. I usually dont think much of wetlands, but Spencer island is a lot of beautiful land among industry.
Found your post! Sorry. Great observations. Missing marine biology related question but otherwise a nice post.
