Trip to Edmonds Marsh
This is a mushroom that I saw near the edge of the marsh.
My guess for its species name it is an Amanitae mushroom.
I believe it to be a resident and primary producer. I thought it was interesting to learn about the many beneficial services that marshes provide. Before the visit I wasn't really aware of how important they are, nor was I aware of the fact that they are often in danger. One thing that I wondered is what it would be like to see a marsh in a less urbanized area.
Hey Kathleen!
ReplyDeleteI got super excited when I saw your pic! I loveeee mushrooms, they're so cool! I know little to nothing about them but they're very interesting to look at. When I was younger I was so grossed out by mushrooms I would stand anywhere near them, I eventually stopped when I read in a book that fairies would use them for many things. SO that really helped me get over that. Any who, thanks for sharing!
I would like to see a marsh in a less urbanized area; I wonder if there would be less pollution that would create healthier organisms.
ReplyDeleteWow! thats such a cool picture, i didnt see any mushrooms when i was walking around the marsh, but that just goes to show how diverse these places can be
