Human-Impacts

Yesterday I went down to the Edmonds beach by the Kingston ferry. I went kind of late so I charted down whatever I could. I have visited the Edmonds beach many times but this time was different because I was paying more attention to the human impact. While I was walking the beach, I noticed bits of rubbish caught up in the seaweed on the shore. There were plastic bags caught up in the sand which looked like it had been there for a while. I think there is a lot of littering in this particular area because its somewhat of a tourist attraction so there are many people who come to the beach. Another cause could be the homeless people that stay there, and I have seen a few when I went yesterday. You can partially see the ferry doc on the side of the photo. I think the ferry could have an impact on the marine ecosystems because it is constantly going back and forth throughout the day. It could harm the marine mammals that inhabit the area. Because the ferry it always running it is constantly producing sound waves through the water and could be also causing marine animals to avoid the area. While leaving the beach I witnessed a couple people picking up trash across the shore. They did not look like they were getting paid to do it but just simply doing it to help the environment. If everyone picked up some trash then it would benefit our environment and the marine ecosystems.
