Human Impacts
The marine ecosystem I visited was the Edmonds Marsh. While I was there I didn't notice a lot of trash around, I did see some, but there is a lot of buildings, train tracks, and houses around the marsh. I also saw a lot of poles, ribbons tied to plants, and flags around in the marsh which I am assuming is for research. I didn't notice many visible effects of these human impacts really. The most obvious would be the trash at the marsh which is not good for the ecosystem and the organisms in it. And also the man made buildings around it has affected the size of the ecosystem, making it smaller. In the long term stuff can get washed into the estuary since there is so many buildings so close and hurt the animals in it or they might even go else where. And since it is so close to people there will be people who will disrupt the environment and throw trash in it, maybe not even on purpose. To protect the environment we can prevent anymore construction that would diminish the marsh, and to take greater measures so that people will respect the marsh. For example having trash cans around so people can throw away their garbage instead of throwing it away in the bushes.
I've also seen ribbons around plants but I don't think I ever conciously thought of them as a human impact, or asked myself the purpose of the ribbons, untill now. I thought it was interesting that you added the point that organisms in the estuary may go elsewhere; I don't usually think about organisms avoiding pollution
