Spencer Island

Spencer Island was really a fun trip. I got a little bit lost on the way up, but I had a lot of fun once I got there. I was glad that Gwen pointed out that this wetland was different than Edmonds Marsh. If she hadn't I would have never looked up the history of Spencer island, which turned out to be super interesting. It used to be a lumber mill and now its an artificial wetland. I'm glad the land was used as something ecologically productive and not turned into something that would hurt the area more. The most interesting organism I saw here was a great blue heron. These birds are really cool to look at and I also ended up researching them a bit more and learning about their eating and migratory habits.
