Plankton Post (Billy and Kyle)
The materials we decided to use were wooden corks, a fluffy ball, and clay all tied together with string. We tried to combine buoyant and non-buoyant materials in a way that would balance the plankton after it reached the center of the body of water.
Real plankton adapt their density to remain neutrally buoyant, This is represented in our model by the varying densities found in our different parts (corks, clay, etc.) that would help our model be neutrally buoyant.
We were hoping to have our model stay in the middle of the water, but unfortunately, some of the parts that we thought would be more dense gave us an unintended result. Our model stayed at the top of the water and did not sink due to too many buoyant materials.
