Spencer Island
I did not expect Spencer Island to be somewhere in the middle of Everett, I honestly expected it to be an actual island out in in ocean. Despite that, Spencer Island was amazing! It had ponds, tidal wetlands and shorelines. This made looking for organisms in different environments quite easier because they were all somewhat in the same area. The numerous amount of invasive plants really caught my attention because I didn't think there would be that much. There were so many blackberries, buttercups and others too! The most exciting thing that I seen was a brawl between an osprey and an american crow; the crow won haha! But it was definitely great to see nature play its role. One question that came up while I was there was, Are there people who help to upkeep the island? Like do they have volunteers or workers to help maintain cleanliness?
Nona,
ReplyDeleteOMG I know right! Everett would've been the last place I would go to see some fine quality nature. It was so pretty! Yes, that bawl was lit, and the crow totts won! Oh yeah thats a good question, I didn't see alot of trash there so I wonder the same thing. It was nice, I might end up going again for a nice walk sometime and pick up some trash incase there isn't someone assigned to that and its just a community effort.
I am glad you liked it... and yes, "island" is a deceptive name! 😉
