Spencer Island

I saw this organism by the water with many other similar trees. I think this organisms role in the ecosystem is to create nutrients via photosynthesis, and to give birds a nesting space.
I think the most interesting thing I saw on this trip was the marshes in the middle of the island, as they seem out of place but really the whole island revolves around them.
I hadn't thought too mush of estuaries or marshes but it is very cool to see just how much they do for a system like ours and just how much life they support.

How drastically does flooding or drought effect this area or areas like this?
