1. Port Gardner, Everett Marina, Vicinity of Jetty Island Nature Preserve
2. All the water from Snohomish river, marsh, watershed, estuaries enter to the Puget Sound at Port Gardner
3. Garbage; plastic, straw, cigarette buds, Styrofoam, candy wrapper, snack bag
and oil sheen.
4. For example, plastic and other garbage can be swallowed by marine organisms and it will suffocate them overtime. Oil sheen and cigarette buds brings toxin to the water and destroys the water quality.
5. Key stone species or other species will loose their ability to sustain their lives in the water which will cause destruction to ecosystem overtime as a long term effects.
6. Ling cod population in Jetty Island Nature Preserve are being reduced due to the large amounts of garbage in the water.
7. Increase visible informational plaques to educate visitors to the area on the impact of garbage to the ecosystem.

  1. Hi Naomi,
I like your idea of using plaques to educate visitors on how damaging litter is. My idea was to schedule weekly events where people came to pick up litter.
I believe that if both of these occurred then there would be a lot less litter in surrounding marine environments.

    1. Hi Jack, I also like your idea to make it to a community event. The more we can bring people to care about the nature, the better the world will be : )
