Shannon point
Okay I lied about Carkeek park, Shannon Point was definitely my favorite lab throughout this whole course! I enjoyed the boat ride and the whole process of how to gather the invertebrates. I posted the picture in the top left corner because I just realized how cute a nudibranch is! I found this cutie in the lab; the second group found him when they went out on the vessel. I've never seen one in person so this was my first time. This picture on the right is of a brooding six-legged sea star. Katie and I found it under a rock at the tide pools and there was a bunch of them hiding under there. Probably trying to maintain their moisture because it was low tide. This organism plays as a predator but I'm not sure what ecological role a nudibranch plays. Every lab we go on just widens my perspective of the variety of marine organisms in the pacific northwest. During this lab, I found out that The pacific northwest has some of the most unique marine organisms.
Question: What ecological role does a nudibranch play??
I too think nudibranch's are super cool and cute. I believe that this ones species name is a Striped Nudibranch. I could be wrong but I over heard some people talking about it. Shannon-Point was an awesome experience and I'm glad I got to see a Nudibranch along with a bunch of other cool animals.
